The Hour of a Man
Jan 15th, 2010 | By Santosh | Category: Other Articlesby Dietrich Bonhoeffer
The hour of a man’s death is determined, and it will find him no matter where he may turn. We must be ready for it. But…
He knows ten thousand ways
To save us from death’s power.
He gives us food and meat,
A boon in famine’s hour.
That’s something we mustn’t forget…
“Death is the supreme festival on the road to freedom.”
Note: This quote is taken from the last letter he wrote from prison, before the German Nazis executed him for his outspoken faith in Jesus Christ. His last words to the other prisoners as he left to be executed were; “this is the end, but for me, it is the beginning.” (April 8, 1945)
