Psalm 100 – (2) Serve the Lord with gladness: come before His presence with singing. (3) Know ye that the Lord is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. (4) Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. (5) For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

I have noticed in my Christian experience this is does not come naturally. It seems Satan does everything he can to keep my from serving the Lord with gladness. Not only so, but my flesh doesn’t feel like serving the Lord with gladness most of the time. So how can I truly obey this Word from the heart? I mean, where it comes from the inside out and I am not just putting on a show, it really is true! I am glad to serve the Lord!

Satan has been lying to men about God from the day Adam & Eve ate the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. And since that day, many people have been deceived into believing many of his lies about God. However, God proclaims the truth about Himself to us, through His Word and the Holy Spirit reveals this truth to all who listen. Psalm 100:5 – God is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations.

I think the reason it is so easy to murmur and complain about God is that we question His goodness. This leads us to believe He is a hard Master. His way is hard and His instructions to me are a heavy load to carry. How many people enjoy serving a hard master, one who gives his servants instructions to do seemingly impossible things every day of their lives? No one, enjoys serving such a master.

Do you believe the Christian life is hard to live? Do you think God is a hard Master to serve, giving you instructions that seem impossible to live?

You have believed a Lie from Satan!

Jesus said, “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon , and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. “For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).

Did Jesus lie? Or Have we believed a lie from Satan, telling us Jesus’ yoke is hard and His burden is heavy?

My brothers and sisters, I believe Satan is lying to us about God, just as he did to our first parents. He caused them to sin, by telling them a lie about God. And he causes many Christians to sin, as they murmur against God, and complain about how hard it is to live the Christian life.

  1. Thanks for writing this Phil. It reminds me of one of the fundamental concepts from the Old Testament: repentance from dead works and of faith towards God. It is by faith that we understand and are fully convinced that His lovingkindness reaches to the heavens and by this faith, we serve Him with gladness and not out of obligation.
