The message of the Cross comes to us, as God’s children, not as a message of condemnation but from our Father’s heart full of love and purpose for us.
A purpose to share His holiness with us, not only waiting for our final transformation into His likeness when we see Him, but now, as we walk and live with Him on the earth.
John 12:23 Jesus recognized that the hour had come for Him to be glorified.
In Vs 27 He honestly expresses His feelings about it, but acknowledged the purpose in it.
Vs 31 He proclaims the ruler of this world shall be cast out.
So it is in us, when we take up the Cross of Jesus and in obedience follow Him, our Father is glorified in us and the ruler of this world is cast out.
In 1Cor 1 & 2 the Lord is speaking to the Church at Corinth. He begins by proclaiming the message of the Cross to this Church, which was carnal and had many problems to deal with.
This message of truth comes to our self-righteousness as a stumbling block and seems as foolishness to our intellectual reasoning.
But to those who believe and are being saved it is the power of God.
1 Cor. 1: 18 – 21
So this message of the Cross deals with my own wisdom and my self-righteousness, and if I receive it with humility it brings the life of Christ springing out of my inner man like rivers of living water. John 7:37-38
