In Ephesians 5 The Holy Spirit takes us on a walk of love.
We begin by imitating our Father, as His beloved Children. (Vs.1)
Then He leads us into His love as an offering, a sacrifice to God, as a fragrant aroma of Christ.
It is possible to have a human fleshy love, that gives itself as a sacrifice to God, but has the smell of self, as it is being sacrificed.
This is not the imitation of God, that leads us into His light and His life.
To love just as Christ, leads us into a pure life. It cleanses us from the impurities of the desires of the flesh, and the impurities of our own will. See verse 3 – 5.
Vs. 6 “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because if these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
Satan would like to convince us that God is such a loving God that He will not punish the person who sins. However, this Word is clear, that if we don’t repent from our sins and allow the Lord to cleanse us from our sins, his wrath will come upon us.
But there is hope for us!
1 Thess. 1:10 tells us that Christ delivers us from the wrath to come.
This journey of love leads us into the light of Christ. So He instructs us to “walk as children of light” (Vs 8 )
The light of Christ produces fruit that is good.
Just as the sun’s energy and light brings forth the fruit of the earth, so the light of Christ will bring forth the fruit of the Holy Spirit in our life.
( goodness, righteousness, and truth)
As we try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. (Vs 10 )
Now instead of stumbling around in the darkness of not understanding what the Lord’s will is for us, we walk in a greater and clearer understanding of His will and pleasing Him becomes our joy!
As His light burns into our life, it can be like a candle burning down into the center, but leaves an outside rim of wax.
We must allow the Holy Spirit to trim off this was, so the light of Christ is not hindered and eventually goes out altogether in our life.
The Lord is faithful in trimming off those things from our hearts, and life that hide His flame of love.
“Beloved child of God; “Walk in His love.”
