For My Sake

Jesus spoke of the blessing that is hidden in doing things for “His sake”. Beginning in Mathew 5:10, “Blessed are you when they revile you and persecute you, and say all kinds of “evil against you falsely, “For my sake”. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

What are you doing for “His sake”?

When we begin to live our lives for “His sake”, and do things simply because He tells us to do so; it will drastically change the motive of our hearts, take out the insecurity in our Love to Him, and change the answers we give to people, who ask us for a reason.

And whatever you do, do it heartily as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24

This is the life style that changes our complete outlook in life and the reason for doing anything. Many things in Christianity are done for men and to men. Some are perhaps even done for selfish reasons and ambitions. But when something is done and said “out of pure obedience” for no other reason, it produces the very nature of God within the person, through suffering.

Dear Christian, Ask yourself; “How many things have I done and said simply “For His sake”?

How many things am I consistently doing “For His sake”?

When we begin to live “For His sake” it is the greatest fulfillment in the world! Nothing even comes close to the “reward of the inheritance”, and the blessing and Joy that God Himself commands upon His child, who lives in such simple obedience.

God Himself does has done many things for His people in both the Old & New Testament “For His Name’s sake”. When He speaks His promises to Israel in Ezekiel 36; He promises to bring them back from captivity and slavery; Promises to rebuild Jerusalem and command many blessings upon them, He tells them these words; (22) “ Thus says the Lord God: “I do not do this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for My Holy Name’s sake….

You will find this still true in God. He will do many things in your life “ Not for your sake” but for “His Holy Name’s Sake”.

Should every child of the King understand this truth, it would radically change the attitude in Christianity.
