Come, Let us Build

The Lord Jesus has been teaching us, as a church, the importance of building the body of Christ, the Church. We have been studying Nehemiah, and the work of building the walls of Jerusalem.

Many spiritual applications have been taught and learned from Nehemiah’s life. But the one the Lord has been teaching us, has been different. We have not been encouraged to build programs, or evangelistic crusades, or a large congregation of people who gather to worship the Lord.

Rather, the Holy Spirit has been teaching us to build something different. In 1Cor. 3:9-15, the Holy Spirit tells us, we are God’s husbandry, we are God’s building. Christ Jesus is the foundation, and every man should take heed how he builds thereon. Every man’s work will be tried with fire, and only that which remains will be rewarded.

So what are you building on the foundation of Christ Jesus in your life? Is it something that will stand the test of time and eternity? Only those things that will last for all eternity will be rewarded.

Programs will pass away, missions will pass away, evangelism will pass away, Congregations will pass away, money will pass away, church buildings will pass away, knowledge will pass away, Tongues will cease, prophecies will fail…….

What is that which will last for eternity? What are those things that will bring us rewards in heaven?
It is the building up of Love in others. Think about this. Love will never fail or pass away! Words & actions that strengthen LOVE in others; will never be forgotten! It will last forever!

1Cor. 10:1: Knowledge makes one proud, but Charity ( Love ) builds one up.

Ephesians 4:11-16 tells us the Lord gave gifts to men, for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ. (16) all these gifts to the Church is to build itself up in Love.

1Thess. 5:11 the Holy Spirit tells us to comfort one another and build each other up with the reminder That Jesus is coming to take us home, so shall we ever be with the Lord! This reminder to each other builds up our Faith in Jesus and increases our Love for him and his church.

The devil is determined to steal, kill and destroy LOVE in our relationship to God and others.

So he attacks us in many different ways, and sadly in many Christian’s lives he succeeds in doing so. Hence we have so many homes and churches where Love has been destroyed.

But the Lord is looking for Nehemiah’s, who seeing and hearing of the conditions of the walls of Jerusalem; wept and prayed, but then went to work rebuilding the wall.

Will you work to rebuild “Love” in your life, your home, your church?
